Wie unschwer aus der Bezeichnung zu erkennen ist, stammt die Maschine von "Forrest Classics", einem hervorragenden Händler besonders für Mamods. man hat dort einige "specials" im Angebot neben den "normalen" Mamods.
Die SP6 "special" unterscheidet sich durch die grüne Grundplatte und dadurch das im Preis ein Manometer, oder eine Dampfpfeife enthalten ist. Bei mir war beides der Fall. Zudem ist das Teil limitiert.
Die SP6 ist die einzige stationäre Dampfmaschine von Mamod mit Schiebersteuerung. Alle Anderen sind "Oszi´s", jedenfalls soweit mir das bekannt ist. Sie ist erst seit Ende 2008 auf dem Markt.
Die Maschine läuft extrem gut. Man spürt förmlich die Kraft, die dahinter steckt. Eine Maschine, die ich gerne anfeuere.

The SP6 special has a green base plate and comes with pressure gauge or steam whistle for the same price as the standart SP6. I got both extra items. What os more is that the special is a limited edition.
The SP6 is the only Mamod stationary engine with fixed cylinder. All other engines are oscylators as far as I know. The fixed cylinder is a resent feature for Momods and is in production since 2008.
The engine is an superb runner. One can feel the power she has. I enjoy it very much steaming her.

Mit der Maschine kann man sicher eine ganze Menge Antriebsmodelle antreiben. Sie liegt in der Leistung zwischen einer D15 und einer D16 von Wilesco. Der einzige Wermutstropfen ist der entsetzliche Gestank der Mamod Trockenbrennstofftabletten und die erheblichen Betriebskosten. Die Maschine benötigt 5 Tabletten zum Betrieb. Ein Spiritusbrenner schafft da Abhilfe.
Wie schon erwähnt läft die Maschine sehr gut. Besonders beeindruckend ist das Regelventil, das wesentlich besser einzustellen ist als das vergleichbare Teil bei Wilesco. Weniger schön ist, dass das Manometer im Betrieb innen beschlägt.
She surely can drive quite a number of models. The engine rating is between a Wilesco D15 and a Wilesco D16. The only downer is the incredible stench of the mamod solid fuel tablets compared to the Esbit solid fuel. The engine needs 5 tablets of solid fuel to exploit all her capabilities. A meth burner should be far cheaper for steaming and above all will stop the strange stench.
As mentioned above the engine is a superb runner. Especially impressive is the outstanding steam valve which enables the user to excactly control the engine. The valve is a notch above the comparable valve from Wilesco. Not good is that the pressure gauge clouds over from the inside during steaming.
