The D18 is an ebay win. A D18 is a D16 with a D20 boiler plus generator and lamppost. The pait job is an eyecatcher. The lampf was samaged as I got her. I repaired that with tape to take the video. Now it is better repaired.
I use a meth burner to fire her up as I do with most of my Wilescos. She is surely not my favourite engine but surprisingly she is lots of fun. She is intendet to be fired up when curious and uninformed relatives or visitors a pestering me with questions.
Lamppost taped
Beside the generator she has a pulley to drive other models. She is powerful enough to do so. Quality is good for a rather new Wilesco. Not as good as an old one but I am comfortable.
The preowner has used tap water to steam her. You can see that at the water glass in the boiler. It looks like it is made from frosted glass. No problem. Some vinegar will solve that soon. Just as you decalcify your coffee maker.
As mentioned above this engine is well suited to show someone a steam Engine that is "doing something" (produce electricity) in an instant
