D21

The Wilesco D21 was my first Engine. She is a good runner with a distinctive sound. She has one fault that is very annoying. You have to remove the whole Manometerblock to refill the Engine. Removing only the safety valve for refilling is not really practicable. The thread in the boiler is worn out soon and the Manomaterblock can not be screwed safely anymore. I strongly advise the use of a bottle with a flexible tube for filling the boiler.

Well, I did not know that and destroyed the thread. Now it is repaired again by using a high temperature glue. Not very craftsmanlike but working.

The Engine is powerful for a Wilesco and has a hand-operated feed-pump. Sadly the Governer is only decoration.

My Evaluation

  • filling the boiler is tricky because of the flimsy manometerblock thread
  • medium to high fun
  • good runner
  • powerfull

Not suitable for Beginners
